The Book of Mormon, a scripture of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, describes two peoples: Lamanites and Nephites. After a last great battle, the Nephites were destroyed from the face of the earth. The remnants of the Lamanites are among the ancestors of today’s North American Native Americans. Andrea Hales (Navajo), the host of Tribe of Testimonies, interviews faithful Native American Latter-day Saints of tribes across the U.S. and Canada to learn how the Gospel of Jesus Christ has influenced their lives. Something that Janell Murphy told me is that she's a healer. I think she's come from broken places enough and that she's sought out healers and healing enough that she has learned that gift of the spirit. She seems to walk in harmony with the world around her. She's learned that doing so brings her closer to our Savior. And by becoming closer to the Savior, she is more in harmony with the world. It's a beautiful circle of healing and growth. If you listen closely enough, you can learn how to strengthen and grow your faith. I loved that about our conversation, she was teaching me so much.
